British Pathe News reports on The Beatles playing at the ABC Ardwick, Manchester, 1963.
Note the audience reactions, the Stoicism of the cinema staff, the lone policeman as security, and the length of hair that passed for "long hair" in the early 1960s.

Don't you think that the band'songs were playing second fiddle to the hysterical shrieks of the female audience? What striked me the most is the lonely presence of the policeman which, in my view, would be very hard to imagine in musical events nowadays.
